Published by Legacy on Mar. 13, 2025.
Renate Johanna Langosch passed away March 7, 2025 at the age of 86.
Renate was born on January 14, 1939 in Güsten / Anhalt, in the Eastern part of Germany. Her late parents were Elfriede (Heinemann) and Viktor Mrozik. Renate had 4 sisters (Rita, Margot, Christine and Johanna) and 1 brother (Werner). Renate grew up in the care of her grandmother, Oma Jenny. She trained to be an Olympic swimmer. On September 2, 1955, Renate met the love of her life, Otto Paul Ferdinand Langosch, who was playing with the hand ball team of SV Germania Lamme. They married on March 2, 1957 and raised two sons, Burkhard and Michael.
Renate and Otto began married life in West Germany, later moved to the United States and became US citizens. While Otto was working, they traveled all over the world. They liked to vacation in Mexico in the winter. They collected statues of horses and elephants from all the countries they visited and acquired furniture and art from the Orient and Mexico. They loved to play tennis, swim and take walks with their yorkies. Renate enjoyed cooking and baking authentic German food and often entertained Otto's business partners or hosted a birthday or holiday party for her family. She liked to knit and sew and made blankets for her grandchildren. Renate had a green thumb and knew how to make orchids, roses and geraniums thrive better than anyone else in the neighborhood! She volunteered with the Humane Society. Renate enjoyed Merci chocolate as an afternoon or evening treat. Renate always dressed fashionably and enjoyed going shopping for clothes, hats, scarves, purses, jewelry and shoes.
Renate is survived by her sons Burkhard (Colleen) and Michael (Jill) and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Renate's family and friends would like to thank the staff and residents of Waltonwood University Independent Living who were her friends these past 2 years.
At her request, no service will be held. Renate will be laid to rest by her husband of 62 years, Otto, who passed away on April 19, 2019.
