Rene was born on September 28, 1971, in Bonham, Texas—a small town that could barely contain her bright spirit and boundless energy. From a young age, she brought joy and laughter wherever she went, and as she grew, so did her love for life, her family, and helping others.
To know Rene was to know warmth. She was the life of every gathering, with a smile that lit up the room and a laugh that made you feel like everything was going to be okay. Her love for music, dancing, and celebrating turned even house cleanings into unforgettable parties, full of movement, joy, and connection.
Rene was a proud and devoted mother and grandmother. Her proudest achievements weren’t her own—they were the milestones reached by her beloved children and grandchildren. She beamed with pride at all four of her children’s high school graduations, celebrated two of her sons’ military accomplishments with immense honor, and adored her five grandchildren from the moment each of them arrived.
Her love of life was evident in the little things: spontaneous trips to Braum’s for banana shakes, family get-togethers filled with music and stories, and every moment spent dancing with her grandkids in the living room. Rene had a gift for making ordinary days feel special, and special days feel magical.
But perhaps what most defined Rene was her heart. She was selfless to her core—always ready to give, to support, to comfort, and to show up when someone needed her most. Her love knew no bounds, and her compassion left a lasting impact on everyone lucky enough to know her.
Rene’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and unwavering generosity. Her spirit will live on in the music we play, the stories we share, the dances we dance, and the lives she so beautifully touched.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
She is survived by her loving husband, Rafael Grimaldi; her mother, Antonia Meza; her daughter, Ashley Johnson; her sons, Rafael Grimaldi Jr., Steven Grimaldi, and Eric Grimaldi; and her cherished grandchildren: Jaden Johnson, Jordan Johnson, Jace Johnson, Leia Grimaldi, and Gianna Grimaldi. She is also survived by her brother, James Taylor, and her sister, Tonya Rodriguez.
Rene was preceded in death by her father, Ramon Meza; and her brothers, Tim Brumley, Ken Taylor, Bobby Taylor, and Donny Taylor.
