Rene Houston Obituary
Rene Redford Houston, 67, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2025 at York Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, following a severe stroke in February of 2024. She had battled Multiple Sclerosis for many years, but her determination allowed her to live life to the fullest. Rene retired from Newport News Public Schools in 2007.
She was known for her vibrant spirit, her friendship with many, and her ability to make a connection with everyone she met. One of her most cherished memories was spending time at the beach with her friends and family.
Rene was preceded in death by her father, Bill Redford, in 2015. She is survived by her mother, Barbara Redford; son, Ryan Houston; daughter and son-in-law, Katelyn and Shon Sheffield; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Michel and Todd Strause; brother, Richard Redford; and former husband, Danny Houston.
In accordance with Rene's wishes, A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Weymouth Funeral Home.

PRAYERS for Rene and her family. My favorite memory was when she gave all the Street Walkers a pink sweatshirt with Street Walkers walking. I will always cherish this memory and that pink Sweatshirt

Rene was a true inspiration to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her determination, kindness, and unwavering willingness to help others (if it was in her power to do so), made a lasting impact on so many lives. With her sharp wit, clever mind, and vibrant spirit, she brought joy and laughter wherever she went!
She had a love for life that was contagious and was up for almost anything-whether she was enjoying a gathering, playing games, or soaking up the sunshine, Rene embraced every moment with enthusiasm and grace. Her warmth and light touched countless hearts, and the world is a little less bright without her in it.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will continue to shine, just like the sun that she adored, and we will cherish our memories with her.
