A native of the Randleman / Level Cross area, Ms. Toomes was born September 27, 1958, the daughter of the late George and Rebecca Brazell Toomes. She was a graduate of Randleman High School.
"Come as you are"
René was known for this. Come as you are, all your imperfections and flaws, bad or good. Come as you are & I will love you with open arms, no matter your faults, no matter our differences, no matter your mistakes. Come in, stay awhile, unload all your baggage & take a load off. René, had the ability to show so many a kind of love they didn't know people actually possessed. One in which she instilled in both her children Amy & Katie.
"Comes as you are"
No matter all the craziness of this world, LOVE overrode it all in the heart of this lady.
René (MOM) was one of the first women to teach so many this, along with how to be a survivor not a victim of this world!!!!
"Come as you are"
I will love you, no matter your faults or mistakes, no matter our differences. Those words can be heard echoing from her now. She gave three generation of women that same gift and the family. Motherly, loving, resilient, open minded & brave was the example you gave us to live by!
As recently said by a very close friend and it really resonants true. (Quote) "Before Jasmine, before Homer, there were you three (Amy, mom-René & Katie) & I have to say y'all were & are one of the most important pieces of the puzzle of my childhood, life." I totally understand this feeling as I am confident many also share this feeling as well.
"Come as you are"
Nay Nay always made a lasting impression on everyone whether they were friend or family. This is the Women you were known to be and will be remembered for in our days to come. You worked hard and played hard at times too. You loved fishing and dogs, both filled your heart with great joy, as did your grandchildren. You will be greatly missed by so many our sweet, stern, sassy, loving & understanding René, Nay Nay, Granny, and last but not least OUR Mother! Fly high, Angel!
Grandma, You raised me for many years of my life and those years we spent together were a very special time during my childhood. The love you showed us was immeasurable. I will cherish all of the good memories I shared with you, fishing, cooking, and hanging out watching all of your favorite shows, Judge Judy, NCIS, and so many more. You were always there when I needed you, to laugh, to cry, you were there no matter what. You taught me so many things, the only thing you didn't teach me is how to live without you. I will miss you every second that you are not here. My love for you is eternal as I know yours was for me. Watch over my family, I love you my beautiful grandma.
July 8, 10:00 AM, marks one of the worst days of my life! I really didn't know what to say because one small paragraph doesn't do you justice, I could write a book about life with you! I lost one of the most important women that completes my heart, my dear sweet granny. I don't know how I am going to navigate life without you but what I do know is, I love you more than anything in the world. Thank you for doing all you could to provide for us, to make sure we had things you never had, for striving for us to always live a better life than you. Thank you for teaching me what it means to love someone with every ounce of your being, for shaping me into the woman I am today, and most of all for loving me with every ounce of your heart and soul. I promise to always make you proud for the rest of my days, I'll live on for you and strive to be the women you have taught me to be until my last breath! I love you grandma, forever and always! Love your BekBek.
