Our beloved mother, sister, wife and friend, Renée Wybrow Darby, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at age 95.
She was born to Harry Lavern Wybrow and Maravene Leolia Nebeker April 12, 1929 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was the middle of 3 children, sister Maravene Wybrow Baird (deceased) of Denver, CO and brother Ellery Wybrow (deceased) of Ogden, UT. She grew up in Salt Lake in the 4th Ward attending South High School.
She married Michael Darby, love of her life in 1956 and later adopted two children, Michaelle Darby Peters (Park City, UT) and Kevin Darby (Island Park, ID) who were the light of her life. They were raised in Northern California, moving back to Ogden in 1977 to be closer to family. They attended Bonneville High and Weber State. Michael passed away in 2011.
Renée was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, as well as the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She was active through her life in service to others, enjoyed various church callings and teaching children. She worked in banking in her early career in SLC, and later at Sears in South Ogden in the catalog department where she made many friends.
Renée had a beautiful voice and loved singing Hawaiian songs with her sister Maravene, dressing up in elaborately beautiful costumes. Their grandfather had come to Utah from Lanai, Hawaii at age 11 adopted by a missionary from Salt Lake, they cherished their island heritage. She loved performing comedy skits on stage in her early years and kept her great sense of humor to her last days. One of her joys was writing long letters to loved ones and she never missed a birthday card or special event in someone's life that she cared about. She always saw the good in people, valued honesty, hard work and devotion to anyone in need. She was a true angel on earth and loved by everyone she touched.
Especially close to her heart are sister-in-law Doris Lunt Wybrow and family, niece Jeanne and Keith Davis, and son-in-law Tim Charlwood who were always there by her side with loving care. She cherished being an 'adopted' grandmother by her dear friends, Mindy South and Windy Olson and their families who gave her so much love and comfort through her later years.
Renée also treasured her half sisters Lynne & Sid Tracy, Vicki & Doug Sargent (Washington), half brothers Floyd and Sandy Warren, Dick and Bev Warren (California) and their families, sister Maravene's children Harold Winger and Julanne Kurtz and their extended families (Colorado), and brother Ellery's children Richard 'Tag' & Connie Wybrow, Matthew & Kathy Wybrow, Kim & Michelle Wybrow, and their extended families (Utah) - You are all so loved.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday March 8, 2025 at the Burch Creek Ward in South Ogden, 11:00 am, 4955 Adams Avenue.
A special thank you for all the love and support of her many friends in her church and community, you made a beautiful impact on her life, and also to her numerous caregivers, Marinda Miller, and staff at Stonehenge and Legacy House, the best care her family could have hoped for.
