Dr. Renee Lerma Gamboa, M.D., of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2025 at the age of 91. Born on July 8, 1934, in Manila, Philippines, she was the beloved daughter of Rosalia Labrador Lerma and Deogracias Lerma, Esq.
Renee grew up in Manila alongside her siblings Felicita, Ludgerio, Deogracias Jr., Teresita, and Alberto. She pursued her education at the Manila Central University, where she earned her Doctor of Medicine degree. A dedicated and compassionate physician, Dr. Gamboa devoted her career to caring for others and improving the lives of those around her.
Beyond her professional achievements, Renee lived a life full of joy and passion. She loved spending time at the casino, playing the piano, singing karaoke, traveling, dancing, shopping and playing mahjong with family and friends. Her radiant spirit, humor, and warmth touched everyone who knew her.
Renee was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Dr. Ranulfo Gamboa; her son, Ronald; her grandson, David; and her brothers, Ludgerio and Deogracias Jr.
She is survived by her daughters Maria Joule (David), Jeannie Merwin (Spencer), and Rachel Malubay (Bobby); her grandchildren Lisette, Alexandra, Daniel, Nicolas, Nathaniel, and Noah; and her great-grandchildren Ronin, Sedona, Magnolia, and Cillian. Her legacy of kindness, strength, and love will continue to live on in all who knew and cherished her.
Sincere gratitude to Ann Stephens, Glenda Defante and Rachel Sanchez for providing compassionate care and to Hosparus Health for their guidance and support.

My mother in law Peggy Snyder and myself both worked for Dr Gamboa many years ago when she had her office off of LaGrange Road. I was her bookkeeper and Peggy was her nurse assistant. She was always such a loving person and a compassionate Dr. We send our prayers and condolences to the family.

Dr Gamboa....What a woman! She raised four amazing kids, was a devoted wife, grandmother, and the true heart of every gathering. Some of my favorite memories are of her happiest surrounded by people, laughter filling the house, and her incredible Filipino dishes that somehow tasted even better when she was teasing you from the kitchen.

She´s now back with her beloved husband, Dr. Gamboa, her son Ronald, and grandson David - probably organizing everyone up there and making sure they´re all fed.

Her family has been through so much, but her daughters have shown the same strength and devotion she lived by. I´ll always remember how she could give me a hard time and make me laugh all in the same sentence - that perfect mix of sweetness and sass that only she could pull off.

May the whole family find peace knowing she´s finally at peace too - and still watching over the Gamboa crew with that same loving, slightly bossy smile.

With love and a smile,

Mike Rembold
