Renee Prude Hereford, lovingly known as "Mama Nay", was born January 3, 1955 to the late Homer and Luecella Hamilton Prude in Chicago, Illinois. She departed this earthly life for her heavenly home on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.

She began her journey with the Lord at an early age and was a member of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Tupelo, Mississippi. Her occupational journey included sharing her compassion as a nurse assistant at the NMMC Women's Hospital in Tupelo, Mississippi. She was also a dedicated member of the Kissia Clifton Temple #671. With her joyful spirit and caring nature, Renee touched the lives of many by helping and sharing with others.

Renee married the love of her life Richard Hereford affectionately known as "Dickey". Together they were blessed enough to have three strong God-fearing sons. She was a lady of many talents and did not spare them. Her talents included cooking, sewing, knitting, quilting, drawing, painting, cake decorating, and crocheting to name a few. There was nothing she couldn't do!

She is preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Andrew, Henry, Melvin, and Lenard Prude, as well as mother-in-love, Lura Hereford.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Richard Hereford of Tupelo, MS; her children: Antwon Hereford of Huntsville, AL, Corey Hereford (Deirdra) of Alpharetta, GA, and Ashley Hereford (Shea) of Canton, GA; 8 grandchildren: Damion (Tierra), KiJana, Corey II, Akailee, Jada, Keilan, and Zane, as well as 2 great-grandchildren: Madison and Roman. She is survived by her sister, Patricia Pounds of Sherman, MS, brother, Andre Prude (Valerie) of Montgomery, AL, brother-in-law, James Hereford (Stacey) of Tupelo, MS, two sisters-in-law, Lura Freeman of Tupelo, MS, and Kimberly D. Paul (Larry) of Canton, GA. A special nephew and niece, Myron and Mary Hereford, in addition to a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends too numerous to name.

Visitation will be Sunday, June 22, 2025, from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM at Payton Mortuary. Funeral service will be Monday, June 23, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, 2840 Willie Moore Road, Tupelo, MS 38801. Viewing available one hour before service.
