Reta Ruth Hampton

Reta R. Hampton, age 91, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Flinthills Care and Rehab Center in Emporia.

Reta Ruth Ambrose was born on December 15, 1933, to Norman and Nellie Mae (Brizendine) Ambrose. She was the third of seven children.

She joined William B. Hampton Jr. in marriage on August 1, 1952. To this union they were blessed with two children William B. Hampton III (Sharon) and Karen Moreene Hampton. They later divorced. Later in life Reta married Earl K. Robinson, and they later divorced.

Reta was a homemaker but, later had worked as a cook at ESU.

In the later years of her life, she was a resident of Flinthills Care and Rehab Center.

Reta was a member of the Lebo Baptist Church.

She will be forever remembered by her daughter, Karen (Del) Hampton-Pine of Rosharon, Texas; her son, William B. (Sharon) Hampton III of Lebo; a sister, Wanda Lachner of California, Missouri; a brother, Harold (Mathel) Ambrose of White River, South Dakota; a grandson, Bill (Misti) Hampton; granddaughters, Amy (Reason) Bradford, and Elizabeth (Fernando) Anaya; and great grandchildren Levi (Des) Hampton, Addie, Ashlyn, Skyler Bradford, Issac, Ivan Anaya.

Reta was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Norman Jr. Ambrose and Ed Ambrose, and two sisters Pauline Chandler and Billie Jo Stone.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home, 107 W. Sixth, Lebo, KS 66856. Family will receive friends an hour before service at funeral home. Burial to follow service at Lincoln Cemetery in Lebo. Memorial contributions may be made to Hand in Hand Hospice or Lebo Baptist Church and sent in care of Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home, P.O. Box 43, Lebo, Kansas 66856.
