Mrs. Reta Raphiel Wilson

Reta Raphiel Wilson December 11, 1930 ~ October 19, 2011 Reta Raphiel Wilson 80, passed away October 19, 2011 in Orem Utah. She was born on December 11, 1930 in Coushatta, Red River Parish, Louisiana to John Wesley and Novetta Wren Raphiel. She came to life in a time of the Great Depression. She graduated from Campti High School and came Westto BYU where she met Grant M. Wilson. They were married on September 18, 1950 in the Logan Temple. Wesley Raphiel Wilson(Alaine), Lauretta Wilson Tew(Scott), Richard Raphiel Wilson, Walter Raphiel Wilson(Amanda) came to them as children. Grant graduated from M.I.T. and they lived in California, Pennsylvania and Texas before returningto Utah in 1970. She always said Houston was her favorite place to live. It may have had to do something with her southern blood. Reta was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served two times as a Relief Society President. In 2002 Reta and Grant served in the India Bangalore Mission for the Church. Every place they lived the church was a big part of their lives. She is survived by Grant, her loyal husband, and her fourchildren. She has 14 grandchildren 10 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother and 3 sisters, John Wesley Raphiel Jr., Ann Fuller, Maxine Curry and Doris Oliphant. Services will be held Monday, October 24, 2011 at 11 AMin the LDS Chapel, 80 South 280 East, Orem, Utah. Friends may visit Sunday evening from 6-8 PM at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 E. 800 N. or at the chapel from 9:45 - 10:45 AM on the day of the service. Burial will be at the Orem Cemetery. .
