Retta E. “Jean” Parker, born on May 18, 1944, in Davidson, TN, left this world on December 21, 2025, in Dayton, OH. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, whose vibrant spirit and unwavering devotion to her family defined her life. Jean was known for her loving and caring nature, yet those close to her understood that she possessed a fierce temper—one that weaved together the fabric of her strong personality.

A dedicated homemaker, Jean devoted her entire life to caring for her husband, children, and grandchildren. She savored the simple joys of life: from enjoying a cup of coffee in the morning to playing BINGO. She took pride in maintaining a clean home, always seeking ways to decorate her surroundings with warmth and elegance. Jean treasured being surrounded by her family, and her grateful heart was evident in all that she did.

Jean shared 62 wonderful years of marriage with her husband, Jerry W. Parker, who preceded her in death in October 2024. Together, they built a loving home filled with laughter and joy, raising four children: Sheila Smith (Greg), Danny Parker, Tammy Isaacs (John), and Tim Parker (Stephanie). As a mother, she was nothing short of extraordinary, nurturing her children with unconditional love and support.

The legacy of Jean’s love extends to her cherished grandchildren: Josh (Carol), Brittany (Ted), Jessica (Chris), Bryan, McKenzie (Cody), Lauryn, and Nathan. Each of them carries a piece of her spirit forward. Her joy was multiplied as she became a grandmother, with great-grandchildren bringing even more light into her life—Zoey, Landon, Harper, Brayden, McKenna, Corbin, and Charlie.

Jean is survived by many adored nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who were all touched by her kindness and generosity. Furthermore, she leaves behind her beloved dog, Daisy, who was a constant companion and source of comfort.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac and Lenar Adkins, along with her husband Jerry, seven brothers, two sisters, and daughter-in-law Stephanie Parker. Each relationship she valued added to the richness of her life and is a testament to the countless memories she created with those she loved.

A visitation will be held in honor of Jean at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton, OH 45424, on Saturday, December 27, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, followed by a funeral service starting at 4:00 PM.

Jean will be profoundly missed, but her vibrant spirit, love for family, and fiery disposition will continue to resonate within the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
