Extending sympathy to Pastor 's family and congregation. He was with us at Grace Lutheran. We loved him and his wonderful sermons . He helped us through hard times when we lost our son in a car accident while in college..we were crushed when he left but saw he would move on to serve many and preach the Word in his great way. Praying for his family .now and in the future.

Arthur's commitment to the Gospel, and his faithful ministry gave me great confidence for the future of this church. Even though he will be greatly missed, there is no denying the blessing he has been in so many lives.

Pastor Arthur was a great email friend across the miles from Waverly and Rice Lake to Grand Rapids, MI. I will always member his calm pastoral voice saying: When times are hard, lean into your faith. His definition of Christian joy is most meaningful: Joy is to live and to serve in the wonderment and peace of God.
One Thursday morning in Lent 2020, I was late for an appointment but wanted to hear the Wednesday service broadcast from our closed church. I hurriedly typed in Holden Evening Prayer in the You Tube search. St. Paul came up. Having no time to look further, I clicked. About a week later, I decided to check out the Sunday morning service. Thrilled to hear Pastor Arthur say: get your bread and wine ready. You will be receiving communion from me. His willingness to follow his call to administrate the sacrament over the internet allowed my shut-in wife to receive communion weekly until she could no longer participate in worship.
Evidently God was guiding my You Tube searches! Wow!
Pastor Arthur and I had many meaningful email searches over the last 5 years. In the last one, I shared a short end of service blessing from the Book of Common Prayer:
Life is short,
And we do not have much time to gladden the hearts of those who make the journey with us.
So... be swift to love and make haste to be kind.
And the blessing of God, who made us, who loves us, and who travels with us be with you now and forevermore.
Pastor replied: Amen.
Peace be with you as God is in all things.

We are all bereft with Arthur´s untimely passing. His kindness, exuberance, humor and wisdom will be sorely missed, as a friend and leader of our congregation.
