On Wednesday, August 16th, our Dad, Jack James Price left this earth to be with Jesus. He missed our mom greatly and could not wait to see her again. Today they are reunited and what a celebration they are having.

Dad loved his family and his friends. He would do anything he could to help a person out. He never met a stranger. He was kind, and always thought of others before himself. He was a simple man, with a big message to spread to others. And that he did. He told everyone about Jesus Christ. Whether it was from the pulpit or in line at Walmart, he told everyone about his Lord and Savior.

Jack loved gardening and caring for his lawn. Over the years he visited Israel and The Holy Land several times. Those were precious, inspiring trips for him. He also loved our vacations with the Oliver family and the Huckabee family; wonderful memories for all of us.

Dad was known to many in the community of Ooltewah, Tennessee, where he called home for most of his life. Over the years he worked at Combustion Engineering. He left Combustion to become a full time Pastor. He pastored Oakwood Baptist Church in Chickamauga, Georgia, where he and mom were so loved. From there he pastored Michigan Avenue Baptist Church in Cleveland, Tennessee. Then, as life goes, he retired and moved back home to the house he built, where he lived out a good life, in Ooltewah, TN. During his “retirement” he was an interim pastor for more churches than I can remember. Until the day he died he remembered every church, and every friend he made along the way.

He will be greatly missed by so many people, but no one will miss him more than his daughter Kim, his son Greg, and his grandchildren, Ashley (Chris), Emily (Anthony), Lindsay (Daniel), and Daniel (Eleanor). His great grandchildren, Layla, Isla, Legend, Ashyer, Jack, and Benjamin will miss him also. Each one held a very special place in his heart.

About a year ago, Jack requested that his obituary would spread the message that he dedicated his life to, and that was the message of Salvation through Jesus Christ. Evangelism was his gift, and he truly desired to spread the Good News to every person he could tell. And so he went about doing just that. Today, as I (Kim) write this, I will attempt to tell the same message, for it has saved my life, also.

Scripture teaches us that Jesus Christ loved us so much that He gave His life for us. He was hung on a cross to die the most cruel death possible. His body was placed in a cold dark tomb. And on the 3rd day after He was buried, He rose again. Christ love for us is unimaginable but yet it is truth. Because of that sacrifice that He made for us on the cross, if we believe in Him, and trust Him as our Lord and Savior, we will have a beautiful future in Heaven with the King of Kings, Jesus Christ.

Our family, out of the love that mom and dad instilled in us, would ask that each of you invite Christ into your hearts. He truly is the Way the Truth and the Light. He is also the very definition of love, and we would love for each of you to walk away and think on this. If you do not know Christ, then today is the day to find Him. We never know when we, too, will leave this earth. Salvation through Jesus Christ is the way to Heaven. Following Him is something you will never regret.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Silverdale Baptist Church Prime Timers.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM-3:00 PM, Monday, August 21, 2023, at Companion Funeral Home- Chattanooga, TN. The funeral service will begin in the chapel following the visitation at 3:00 PM. Pastor Terry Burns officiating. The burial will be held at McDonald Cemetery, Ooltewah, TN.
