Thank you, Father.

James Byrne was my priest and friend throughout my life. He gave me councel during my teenage existential years. Later he was the only priest brave enough to officiate at my interfaith wedding. Memories of his humor and wisdom have continued to guide me spiritually. I regret not maintaining contact during his later years. Surely God's face is shinning upon him and has given him peace.
Gratefully,
Ann M. Baker

Fr. Jim Byrne was a man of many
diversified talents -- an artiist,
a singer, a storyteller, a
listener, a minister of God's love
and peace. I shall always remember
his friendship and kindness to me,
and I was blessed to have known
him. May you be in peace, Jim!

Thanks for being you. I still remember the Myers-Briggs retreat that our staff made at the retreat house. It was very helpful.

I well remembr Father Byrne while he served so wonderfully at St. Mary's parish in Pawtucket. He often came to give my late mother communion and she just loved his Irish wit! May God grant him a special place in heaven!

My memories of Father Byrne date to his assignment in (circa)1986 to St. Charles Borromeo Parish in Woonsocket. At the he arrived I was active as a lector. He was always genuinely nice. Blessed with a keen intellect, he never made you feel less than an equal. Together with the late Fr. John Farley, who was pastor, and Fr. Charles Quinn, we had three good priests ministering to us. When my wife and I were married in 1987, Fr. Byrne deferred to Fr. Farley for the wedding itself, but he gave the invocation at the reception. He was quick with a smile, a twinkle in his eyes and the love of God and His Church in his heart. Rest in Peace Father.

I have fond memories of Father Byrne when he served at St. Mary's Parish in Pawtucket. While growing up in that parish I was an altar server and house boy in the Rectory. On Sunday mornings during football season, Father Byrne said Mass for those players and coaches on the New England Patriots who were Catholic. He knew I was a sports fan and asked me to serve at one of those Masses. I remember how good he was to my family.
