Reva Baum, 79, of Alpena, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 21, 2025. While our hearts grieve her loss, we give thanks for a life well lived and deeply loved.

Her funeral service was held 10:30 AM, Monday, December 29, at Faith Alive Church in Huron with burial in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Her service was live-streamed.

Her visitation was held from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, Sunday, December 28, at the Kuhler Funeral Home, and a prayer service at 6:00 PM Sunday evening.

Reva was born on July 9, 1946, in Tzum, Friesland, Holland, (Netherlands) to Anno and Helen Boomsma. As a child, she immigrated to the United States with her parents and siblings, beginning a new life shaped by faith, family, and perseverance.

After coming to the United States, she met David Baum, the love of her life. They were married on August 17, 1968, and shared 57 years of marriage, making their home on the farm near Alpena, where they built a life rooted in hard work, devotion, and deep love for family.

Together they raised four boys — Steve, Greg, Brian, and Derek — and she poured herself fully into the calling of motherhood. Life on the farm was full and demanding, and she met it with quiet strength and tireless care. From keeping up with daily chores to preparing meals for a growing household and hired hands to supporting her family in countless seen and unseen ways, she created a home that was steady, nurturing, and full of love.

Her home was a place of welcome. People felt at ease the moment they walked through the door, knowing they would be met with warmth, conversation, and hospitality. Her generosity seemed endless and was often shared over a cup of coffee or tea. Some of the most cherished memories were made around her kitchen table — countless conversations with her siblings, laughter shared, stories told, and time enjoyed together in that sacred space.

She was known for her warm smile and her ability to make others smile in return. She saw the good in people and had a way of putting others first, often setting herself aside so those around her could be encouraged and lifted up. Her kindness and humility left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

Her faith was an anchor throughout her life. It carried her through seasons of joy and challenge and shaped the way she loved others so faithfully.

She is survived by her husband, David Baum; her sons, Steve (Kanda) Baum, Greg (Connie) Baum, Brian (Jessica) Baum, and Derek (Lindsy) Baum; ten grandchildren, Tanner, Shaylee, Zane, Hayes, Jesiah, Tucker, Thaydeus, ElleAna, Jack and Riggs; her siblings, Jake (Cindy) Boomsma, Alie (Eldon) Hofer, John (Mareldine) Boomsma and Steve (Julie) Boomsma; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Anno and Helen Boomsma, and her two brothers, Jakob and Jan.

Though we mourn her absence, we rejoice in the legacy she leaves behind — a legacy of love, faith, hospitality, and quiet strength that will continue to live on through all who were blessed to know her.
