Rex Dale Brazell, 64, of Leesville, lovingly known as "Mountain Man," passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at 11:08 a.m. Born on August 8, 1961, Rex was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many.

Rex shared 35 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife and high school sweetheart, Kathy Brazell. Together, they built a life centered on love, family, and unwavering dedication to one another.

A true "jack of all trades and master of everything," Rex began working at the age of 18 and went on to own and operate Brazell Construction for 43 years. He was a hardworking man who took great pride in providing for his family and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. A man with a hard head and a heart of gold, Rex was truly one of a kind. He was known for helping anyone in need, feeding stray dogs wherever he went, and always opening his home to others. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for his family will never be forgotten.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife and best friend, Kathy Brazell. He is also survived by his children: Carrie Brazell (Daniel Davis) and her children, Julianna and Amber; Rex "RJ" Brazell, Jr. (Sophia) and their children, Mila and Takoda; Nicholas Brazell and his children, Hannah, Wayne, Autumn, Layla, Zachary and their mother, Jessica Brazell; Thomas Brazell and his children, Kayleigh (with her mother, Melissa), Gabe (with his mother, Jocelyn) and Emma (with her mother, Nicole); and Jesse Brazell (Jessica) and his children, Akadin, Castiel, Kara, Stefan, and Kingston, along with Jessica's children, Jasmine and Tyhiem, and a grandchild on the way. He is also survived by his great-granddaughter, Joyce-Ann; his sister, Tammie; and many extended family members and dear friends.

Rex was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Dot Brazell; his brother, Ralph Jr.; his sisters, Dottie and Lisa Marie Brazell; his granddaughter, Skylar; his in-laws, Catherine and Homer Murray; and his dear friend and the grandchildren's godfather, Jack Douglas, Jr.

He will be fondly remembered by his cousin and close friend, Chris Prevatt (Mallory Duncan Prevatt), as well as by Hannah's fiancé, Mikey Luffman, and many others whose lives he touched.

Rex will be greeted at Heaven's gates by those who went before him, along with the many beloved four-legged companions he and Kathy cherished over the years.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved by all who knew him.

"Lord, take him in Your arms and watch over us. In God we trust. Amen."
