Rex A. Timms passed away on March 6, 2026, in Flower Mound, Texas. He was born on March 2, 1932, to William (Bill) Timms and Gertrude O. Timms in Limestone County, Texas. He is preceded in death by the love of his life for 54 years V. June Timms. He is also preceded in death by both parents and two stepbrothers, J. C. Carter and D. C. Carter and stepsister Lenora Seale.

Rex graduated from Luling High School in 1949. Served four years in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict as a radio operator on B-29's. He later graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1958. After graduation, he embarked on a thirty-five-year career with GTE (Verizon) Telephone Company. He progressed in various management positions rising to Vice President – Public Affairs in three different telephone operations, the last years of his career in Irving, Texas. He graduated from the Executive Management Program at the University of Houston and received a Professional Designation in Advertising from the University of California – Los Angeles.

Rex survived by two sons, Steven Timms and wife Susan Timms of Houston, Texas, and Russ Timms and wife Joan Timms of Flower Mound, Texas. Four grandchildren Allyson Patterson and husband Jason Patterson of Prosper, Texas, Ryan Timms and wife Lauren of Flower Mound, Texas, Meredith Staggers and husband Trent of The Woodlands, Texas and Landon Timms and wife Heather of Flower Mound, Texas: ten Great Grandchildren Peyton and Emma Patterson and Piper June, Lila and Dottie Staggers; Adeline and Reid Timms and Jack, Claire and Georgia Timms; sisters in law Dorice Worley of Plano, Texas and Pat Humes of Abilene, Texas and a host of nieces and nephews.

During his life, Rex participated in many community and business organizations including president of Optimist, Lions, Rotary and International Good Neighbor Clubs. He and his family moved with his company from Texas to California, Illinois, Indiana, Washington state and back to Texas. In each of the stops he was active in government, business and service organizations.

Rex and June were active members of First Christian Church, Granbury, Texas with Rex serving as Deacon and Elder. Both were regular volunteers at Mission Granbury, helping the less fortunate.

A celebration of life will be held on March 20th at 10 am at First Christian Church in Granbury, Texas. Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance.

Flowers or remembrances may be sent to First Christian Church of Granbury or Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury, Texas. The family extends heartfelt thanks to Aspen Healthcare, Mustang Creek Estates and caregiver Monica Niezgoda for their support during this time.
