Obituary published on Legacy.com by Green Hills Funeral Home - Middlesboro on Mar. 6, 2026.
Rex Andrew Treece, age 85, of
Middlesboro, Kentucky, went to his heavenly home to be with his Savior on March 4, 2026 while surrounded by his loving family.
He was born December 11, 1940 in Middlesboro Kentucky to the late Lonnie A. and Anna Jane (Rogers) Treece.
Rex loved the Lord and was a long-time faithful member of the Binghamtown Baptist Church since his joining on February 22, 1959. He remained an active member for 67 years until his health prevented him from attending. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, who cherished time spent with his family. In his spare time, he was an avid golfer – having a true love for the sport. When he wasn't on the golf course, you could find him on the water fishing - another past time that he so thoroughly enjoyed. Rex liked to unwind by sitting on his porch and observing the sights and sounds of nature, specifically the groundhogs that would play in his yard. A true-blue fan, he also loved the University of Kentucky Wildcats. Whether he was at church worshipping, putting around on the golf course, or getting that big catch, Rex simply enjoyed being active and doing the things that brought him joy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Eddie Jo (Johnson) Treece, father and mother-in-law Mack and Lula (Sheckles) Johnson, brother and sister-in-law William and Jane Treece, sister and brother-in-law Alice Faye and Verlin Gray, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Shelia and Jerry Collins, brothers-in-law Mack Johnson, Jerry Lane and James Parker, sisters-in-law Cindy Johnson and Rhonda Johnson, and great-granddaughter Madison Mische Treece.

Middlesboro, KY., daughter and son-in-law Kimberly and Norman Marcum of Prestonsburg, KY., son and daughter-in-law Scott and Rebecca Treece of Douglasville, GA., brother and sister-in-law Don and Twinkle Treece of Oak Ridge, TN., sister-in-law and brother-in-law Debbie and Michael Harris of Louisa, KY., sister-in-law Patricia Lane of Murfreesboro, TN., grandchildren Gregory (Ashley) Treece, Chris (Dakota) Mills, Jesse (Sara) Cox, Joe (Heather) Cox, Megan Hatfield, Jordan (Aleshia) Marcum, Matthew (Crystal) Earl, Tiffany (Ben) Abel, Taylor Treece, Trevor Treece, Tracy Treece and Tyler Treece, great-grandchildren Ethan, Makinley, Trey, Tate, Theodore, Sullivan, Haylee, Chayce, Ryder, Damien, Dahlia, Desmond, Bella and Marae, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will miss him so dearly.
