Capt. Rex Wolf

WOLF, Capt. Rex, 69, USN (retired), of Kenbridge, Va., died December 20, 2009. He served as an Aviator in the U.S. Navy for 27 years, including service during the Vietnam Conflict. His naval duties included VS-35; Exchange Duty Officer at Eglin AFB; Commanding Officer VA-83; CAG 17; War College Newport, R.I.; OSD at the Pentagon; and Captain of the USS San Jose. After retirement he moved to Kenbridge and was Administrator of the Virginia United Methodist Church Assembly Center in Blackstone, Va. from 1990 to 2004. He was a member and treasurer of the Kenbridge United Methodist Church and served the Virginia United Methodist Church Conference on the Common Table and Rules Committee, was a Farmville District Trustee and served on the Finance Committee, and was elected to the United Methodist General and Jurisdictional Conferences in 1996, 2000, 2004 and 2008. He was also an active committee member and logistics chairman of the Town of Kenbridge Centennial Celebration held in 2008. He is survived by his wife, Susie Pyle Wolf; his daughters, Sara Wolf of Auburn, Ala., and Catie Wolf Murphy (Chris), of Woodbridge, Va.; and his three granddaughters, Natalie, Georgia and Charlotte. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 23, in the Kenbridge United Methodist Church. Burial will take place at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.
