Reynaldo Masangkay, 93, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025, in North Logan, Utah, surrounded by family.
He was born on April 19, 1932, in Ibajay, Aklan, Philippines, to Moisés Masangkay and Florencia Hernandez Coronado.
Reynaldo married Estrella Noble Mosquin on September 3, 1952. Together they built a life of hard work, resilience, and music. He worked as a civilian for the United States Navy in the Philippines before later spending many years in manufacturing in Logan, Utah. He took pride in providing for his family and in every role he held.
Reynaldo was known for his kind and joyful spirit. He loved dancing, singing, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed playing cards (especially solitaire) and was happiest when surrounded by family, laughter, and good conversation even debate. His presence brought warmth, steadiness, and a sense of home to everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Estrella, and their children: Reynaldo Jr., Agnes (Noel), Escarlita (Ramon), Mary Ann (Craig), Florence (Fermin), Jane (Edwin), Noli (Chona), Joseph, Luis (Phuong), and Myra (Steven). His sisters Amada and Loida.
He is also survived by his 18 grandchildren: Ronald, Kate Lora, Andrew Craig, Karen Dann, Ramil, David Emmanuel, Marisa Ann, Don Jeoffrey, Laurie, Michaella Andrea, Adrian, Liana, Erin Frances, Neriza, Raynelet, Margie Nel, Kriss Ann, Ramon Alexander; and by his 12 great-grandchildren: Miguel Paulo, Naomi, Jose Val, Jizo Emmanuel, Alexi Gabriel, John Benjamin, Sabine Lucia, Liam Archer, Bendicte Grace, Adeline Myra, Alexander Diderik, Alina —each one of whom brought him immense joy.
Reynaldo was preceded in death by his parents, Moisés and Florencia; his siblings Eufemio, Isaac Sr., and Merlo; his children, Jose Val and Maria Teresa; daughter-in-law Flordeliza, and several beloved family members who welcomed him home.
Reynaldo lived a life marked by love, kindness, music, and quiet strength. He leaves behind a legacy of family unity, determination, and joy- one that will continue to echo through the generations who love him.
Family will receive friends for a viewing on November 18 between 10:30-11:30AM. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 PM at Cache Valley Mortuary 710 West 500 North in Hyde Park, Utah. Interment to follow at the North Logan Cemetery.
The family would like to express their deep gratitude to Dr. Robert Nash and Dr Nolan Derr, the hospice care from the staff of Symbii and Enhabit, all of whom took amazing care of Reynaldo.
