Rhonda Honorat Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Woodlawn Funeral Home & Garden of Memories on Feb. 4, 2026.
Rhonda Pritchett Honorat, 74, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 31, 2026. She was born on June 12, 1951 in Monett, Missouri to Thomas Ronald and Mary Margaret Hallenbeck Pritchett.

Rhonda married her best friend, Alain Honorat, in Paris. They had 48 wonderful years together, traveling around the globe with their dog, Woof.

The couple lived in Bordeaux, France, where Rhonda taught English. Then they moved to San Francisco. Rhonda volunteered with the Museum of Fine Arts and the DeYoung Museum, helping with the exhibitions and translating from French to English. Next, Rhonda and Alain moved to Abidjan. She adapted well to life in West Africa, exploring Ghana, Niger, and Guinea with friends. After six years, they relocated to London, where they lived for one year, enjoying the culture, museums, and meeting new friends. In 1994, they settled in Houston, where they lived continuously with the exception of a 3 year post in Capetown, South Africa.

Travel and spending time with friends and family remained an important part of Rhonda and Alain's life. They traveled to the West Coast, East Coast, and Canada. They visited France yearly.

Rhonda had a philosophy in life: avoid conflict as much as you can, but when you meet a conflict, confront it and fight it as hard as you can! Rhonda bravely fought cancer for 9 years, while still traveling and reconnecting with friends and family. She fought valiantly, with all her might and energy as long as she could.

Rhonda is survived by her loving husband, Alain; her brother Randy; her nephews AJ and Jeff; and her Hallenbeck cousins. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

A funeral service will be held for Rhonda at Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at noon. The service will be live streamed for those who can't attend. The link will be available on Rhonda's obituary page at www.woodlawnfh.com.

My cousin Rhonda was so beautiful. She truly shined. She cherished the beauty of life, delighting in flowers, fine food, French wine, and celebrating all that was good with Alain. Rhonda often told me how blessed she felt to have such a wonderful husband and so many blessings to count. And when life felt hard, she would smile and say, "Remember Scarlet O'Hara, Tomorrow is another day." Rhonda will live on in every memory and in every heart she touched.
