Rhonda Marthaler Obituary

Rhonda S. Marthaler, 67, of Columbus, Indiana, passed from this life November 14, 2025, surrounded by the warmth and love of her family. Born on August 22, 1958, in Kingsport, Tennessee, to William H. Browning Sr. and Mary Helen Turner Browning.

After her mother's early passing, Rhonda found a nurturing home with William and Arlene Birkholz, who raised Rhonda with as much devotion as if she was their own daughter. Her vibrant journey was shared with her beloved husband, Michael J. Marthaler, with whom she experienced a union filled with joy and dedication.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Michael J. Marthaler; her children, Elizabeth (Tyler Barker) Marthaler of Anderson, Indiana and Daniel (Lindsey Wagner) Marthaler of Irvine, California; her brother David (Michelle) Browning of Kansas City, Missouri; life-long friends Debra White and Lauren Walker Balko; and close family friend Jordan (Emily) Maus.

Rhonda is preceded in death by her late mother Mary H. Turner Browning; the couple that raised her William and Arlene Birkholz; her late grandmother Ada Davis; her brothers, William Browning Jr. and Thomas Browning.

Rhonda had a deep affection for animals, while her youth was spent in the company of horses, she later became an ardent cat lover, providing a loving home to more than twenty cats over her lifetime. Her passion for reading allowed her to explore distant worlds and times, a pleasure that she cherished till the end. Rhonda's distinctive laughter was a beacon of joy, and her love for the outdoors led to memorable family camping trips under the stars. Yet, above all, it was her profound dedication to family that shone most brightly, guiding her through life's chapters.

The visitation hours will be from 4:00 p.m. ~ 6:00 p.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington St. Cremation will take place following the visitation hours, no funeral service is planned.
