It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Rhonda Jean Walter, 62, of Rockfish, NC, on Friday, January 31st, 2025.
Rhonda passed away peacefully after a courageous fight with cancer, surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Rhonda was born on December 21st, 1962 in Dayton, Ohio. She dedicated over 20 years as a bookkeeper for Cumberland County Schools, where she was well-respected for her professionalism and dedication. Above all, Rhonda was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, finding her greatest joy in spending time with her family and friends.
An avid horse lover, Rhonda spent much of her free time riding and caring for her horses, a passion she carried with her throughout her life. Her warm heart and kind spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Rhonda is survived by her loving husband, Brian Walter of the home; daughters, Erin Strickland and husband Patrick of Josephine, TX, Lauren Baxley and husband Gregory of Fayetteville, NC; her mother, Mella V. Large McKinnon of Ohio; two brothers, Gregory Taulbee and Jeff Taulbee, both of Beavercreek, OH; two grandchildren, Cameron Baxley, Mason Baxley and a host of extended family members and friends.
She is preceded in death by her father, Aaron Bryan Taulbee and her step father, James McKinnon.
Visitation will be 2:00 – 3:00 PM Sunday, February 9, 2025 at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 3219 Lindsay Road, Raeford, NC 28376.
Funeral services will begin at 3:00 PM following the visitation with Pastor Tommy Underwood officiating.
Because of Rhonda’s passion for Horses, she will be riding in a Horse Drawn Carriage to Tabernacle Baptist Church Cemetery after the service.
