Ricardo Zamarripa Obituary

Ricardo "Richard" G. Zamarripa
September 8, 1932 - May 21, 2023
Haslet, Texas - Richard Zamarripa, age 90, passed away on May 21, 2023, at home with his family by his side in Haslet, Texas. Born in Montemorelas, Neuvo Leon, Mexico on September 8, 1932, Richard was a family man who provided for his loved ones. He enjoyed working outside, raising cattle, and traveling to San Juan, Texas, and visiting family and friends in Mexico.
Richard was a devoted husband to his wife, Vicenta "Chenta" Garcia Zamarripa, for 63 years until her passing in 2019. He is survived by his children: Leticia, Cecilia (Rick Zoucha), Edward (Joann Zamarripa), Louis, Alicia (Julio Lopez), and Robert (Leslea Zamarripa); 11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Richard was preceded in death by his wife Vicenta, parents, sister, and two brothers.
We would like to acknowledge Ida White, a devoted and loving caregiver for Richard and Vicenta since 2016. We will forever be grateful for all the care, love, support and commitment to both our parents.
Richard attended high school in Monterrey, Mexico, and immigrated to the United States where he obtained employment at Swift's and Company in the meat packing industry. He then learned the trade of machinery and exceled in that trade and pursued a career as a general machinist. He worked for Bell Helicopter for 23 years until his retirement on September 30, 1997. Richard also worked as a machinist for Stevens Corporation and was self-employed as a machinist at home.
Richard had a passion for scouting and served as a Scoutmaster where his sons were members of a scout troop 315. Richard enjoyed sports, especially baseball and was a baseball coach for his son's little league teams at Sabine Jarvis in the Diamond Hill area. Richard also enjoyed traveling to Mexico every year for family vacations.
Richard was a devout member of All Saints Catholic Church in Fort Worth, Texas, for over 65 years where he married his wife Vicenta on May 20, 1956. He was also an active member of the All Saints Catholic Men's Club.
A Rosary will be held on Thursday, May 25 at 6 pm, followed by a viewing from 6-8 pm on Thursday at the Mount Olivet Chapel. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, May 26, at the All Saints Catholic Church. Richard will be laid to rest at the Mount Olivet Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Comfort Keepers (Stay at Home Care Services), the Alzheimer's Association, or Vitas Hospice Fort Worth.
