Rich Shimon

Rich Shimon, age 59, of Livermore, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at his home in Livermore, Iowa.

Richard Charles Shimon was born on October 3, 1966, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He was the son of John and Bonnie (Flaherty) Shimon. Rich was raised in the Rolfe area and graduated from Rolfe High School in 1985. He went on to attend Iowa Lakes Community College in Emmetsburg, where he earned a degree in Diesel Mechanics.

In 1987, Rich married Tammy Panbecker in Pocahontas. Though their marriage later ended, they were blessed with three children: Caleb, Kim, and Cassie. Rich and Tammy moved to Texas, where he worked as both a mechanic and farm hand. In 1991, they returned to Iowa and settled in the Woodward area, where Rich was employed at Van Wall Equipment. They later moved to Humboldt in 1993, and Rich worked as a diesel mechanic at K.C. Nielsen for several years.

In 2005, Rich moved to Livermore, where he farmed alongside his dear friend, Jennifer Rolland. After 20 years at K.C. Nielsen, Rich continued his career in the agricultural industry, working for Murphy Tractor in Fort Dodge and Ernie Williams in Algona. He eventually went on to establish his own business, Rich Shimon Repair.

Rich was a proud member of the Humboldt County Cattlemen. He had a lifelong passion for farming-it was truly in his blood. He also enjoyed attending concerts, riding motorcycle, and traveling. Above all, family was the most important part of his life.

Survivors include special friend, Jennifer Rolland of Livermore; his children, Caleb Shimon of Titonka, Kim (Jake) Peterson of Gilmore City and Cassie Shimon (fiancé, John) of Urbandale; 4 grandchildren, Harper and Barrett Peterson and Luke and Kaylee Shimon; brothers, Leo (Carla) Shimon of Fort Dodge, Bill (Louise) Shimon of Perry, Mike (Betty) Shimon of Dalhart, TX and Tom (Jessica) Shimon of Wichita, KS and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Rich was preceded in death by his beloved parents, John and Bonnie Shimon.
