Richard Allen Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 28, 2025.
Richard Lee Allen, 78, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on Wednesday, November 26, 2025.
Richard was born in Memphis, Tennessee on June 12, 1947 to Everette Anderson Allen and Virginia Elizabeth Allen. He was a spirited young boy who enjoyed time outside. Richard accepted the Lord as his Savior on October 7, 1965, and he was proud to share his testimony with anyone. He was blessed with a beautiful voice which he used to glorify the Lord whenever he could. Richard went on to graduate from Humes High School in 1967. He then attended Tri-State Baptist College and received a Bachelors in Christian Education. He married Judy Ann Austin on June 7, 1980. They enjoyed 38 joyous years of marriage together. He was a dedicated member of Gateway Baptist Church where he served as an usher and children's church teacher. During this time, he would make an impact on many children by teaching them about our Lord and Savior. He worked for Memphis City Schools as a building engineer until his retirement in 2013.
Richard is rejoicing in heaven with his loving wife, Judy Allen, his parents Everette and Virgina Allen, one brother-in-law, Charles Page, and a sister-in-law, Marsha Allen. He is survived by a daughter Jenny (Matthew) Penrod and a son Austin (Jennifer) Allen. Six grandchildren, Sandra (Jacob) Hughes, Daniel, Jacob, Joshua, Ashley, and Debra Allen. Three great grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann and Wesley Allen Hughes and Dean Everette Allen. Two brothers, Harold (Karen) Allen and Thomas Allen. Three sisters, Linda Page, Sandra Allen, and Betty (Rick) Chastain. There remains a multitude of nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind an abundance of loved ones who called him Grandpa.
Arrangements are currently incomplete.
