Mary Wood called to tell me that Rich had died. I am sad. He was a wonderful presence. I taught with him at NEI. I remember the canoe the arctic trips - early spring on the St Croix. I am in Grand Marais right now and I think of him every time I see a canoe on a car. I was hoping to be there for the memorial, but I have pneumonia. My condolences to Rich's family and friends.

I'm saddened to hear that Rich has died. He was always so vigorous and full of life. The last I heard he was on an African wildlife safari! I taught electronics with Rich at both NEI and Dunwoody. We spent time together outdoors camping at Lake Agnes along the Superior Hiking Trail, winter camping along the North Shore and in Glacier National Park ("Hey Rich, are you sure that's the right trail?"), and canoeing on the St.Croix River. I enjoyed Rich's odd sense of humor. Remember his portfolio of 'another use for a laptop computer' photos? Getting near retirement, his penchant for large print books? I'll miss you Rich. Take it easy.
