Though I worked under him at the State, it was in a decidedly personal context, a couple of years after he left the Department, that I had the great pleasure of knowing Mr. Armitage: through workouts. Every Sunday morning we were the first two waiting for our gym to open. We'd chat, laugh, talk Navy football, politics - anything and everything. I learned a great deal from him, most especially that he was a good man who cared deeply about his nation, family, and friends. He will be greatly missed.

Thank you for your lifetime of service to our great country Mr. Ambassador! You were the best boss I ever had. Great memories of our trip to the NIS. We delivered!
