Richard A. Aubrey beloved husband of Dolores (Monty) Aubrey, passed away following a brief illness surrounded by his loving family at his home on Monday, December 7, 2020. He was 75. Born in Lowell on August 10, 1945, he was a son of the late Armand and Parmelia (Johnson) Aubrey. Richard was a lifelong resident of Lowell and graduated from Lowell Trade School. He retired from Agfa Corporation where he worked as a maintenance mechanic for more than 28 years, retiring in 2003. Richard enjoyed playing in the St. Francis Parish cribbage league, games on computer, camping, and taking rides to Hampton Beach and Newburyport to people watch. He loved frequenting many local restaurants, especially Sunday morning at Vic's Waffle House, and Donna's Donuts on Tuesday and Thursday. He enjoyed gathering with family and friends. Family was paramount to him and he cherished the time spent with them. Richard was a connoisseur of the Caramel Frappé, making sure to test one at every McDonald's he passed. Richard was a great man that has been described by many as a loving, caring, and considerate individual with a big heart. Being the man that he was, many saw him as a role model. He was an advocate for organ donation, having received a kidney transplant eight years ago and developed a special relationship with the donor family. Surviving him besides his wife Dolores, with whom he celebrated 54 years of marriage this past September are a son and daughter in law, Christopher and Jane Aubrey; a daughter and son in law, Darleen and Scott Ratté all of Londonderry, NH; six grandchildren, Mathew Aubrey, Andrew Janowicz and his wife Kristina, Nicole Aubrey, Jason Aubrey, Ryan Ratté, Matthew Ratté and his wife Elizabeth; three great grandchildren, Skyler Aubrey, Penelope Ratté, Poppy Ratté; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Lorraine and Robert Wilson, Yvette Roche all of Billerica; a brother and sister-in-law Maurice and BettyAnn Aubrey of Dracut; special extended family, Doreen LaFleur, Natalie Robitaille, Tyler and Kaylee Johnston all of Tewksbury; his best friend Jack Farrell of Lowell; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Rita LeBel and Pauline Bechard. Relatives and friends are invited to Richard's graveside funeral services on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 11:00 AM in St. Mary Cemetery, 90 River Rd. Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard's memory may be made to New England Donor Services, Attn: Caitlyn Bernabucci, 60 First Avenue Waltham, MA 02451, or online at https://www.classy.org/give/162811/#!/donation/checkout

I was very young when i was first introduced to Uncle Richard. I was born 1200 miles away and didn't really know of him until i was 6. It was at that age that we moved to lowell. When we arrived in Massachusetts we all had to be split up among the various relatives until we were able to find a place of our own. When i look back i saw myself as the luckiest of all my brothers and sisters because I got to go stay with Uncle Richard and his family. What i saw in him was stability, nurturing and caring. I was normally a shy kid around new people but with him it was different. He made me feel safe. He made me feel like i belonged. My Uncle Richard was a great example of a strong, caring, supportive man. I witnessed, and admired a family that had no shortage of love. He loved them and they loved him. There is no better legacy than that.

Delores, Chris & Darleen and family, Dick was a fine father and good neighbor from your Christian hill days, I recall the family gatherings with my sisters Rosemary’s kids. As well as the cake baking tasks of yesteryear.
May you find comfort in your memories of Dick, he is at peace now. God bless us all.
