Born October 3, 1948 to late Leo A. and Jeanne (Parent) Bannister.
He attended local schools and graduated from St Dom's. Richard served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force, enjoying his time in England at Upper Hayford RAF Base. He was discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant.

In 1979 he married Carol McKenney at Lisbon Faith Bible Church (formerly Lisbon Free Baptist Church) in Lisbon, ME. They built a loving home and wonderful life in Lewiston with their children.

Richard had a career in floor covering distribution and retail business spanning over 40 years. He ended his working career as a driver for a visually impaired employee at the Iris Network. He was a Biblical believing member and deacon of the Lisbon Faith Bible Church of Lisbon, ME, and a Biblical teacher of God's word.

Richard was a New England sports fan for many years. He was a lover of literature and a television, particularly British Television. He loved his Yorkshire Terriers: Pooky, Abby and Jack.

Richard is survived by his loving wife Carol and his precious children Carissa Bannister Kauwell of San Jose, CA and Jason M. Bannister of Belfast, ME, currently living overseas in China. He is the most proud Pepere of Sullivan, Owen, and Connor Kauwell of Mt. Joy, PA, and Tristan and Marina Bannister of Belfast, ME, sisters Claire (and Mary Kay) Hebert of Auburn ME, Irene (and Gary) Dunlap of Portage, MI and Paul (and Ann) Bannister of South Dakota, along with several in laws: Gail Stretton, Jeanne Wood, Beth Jones, David (and Ann) McKenney, Neal (and Diane) McKenney, and Richard Francoeur, as well as former son-in-law Charles Kauwell and former daughter-in-law Danielle Bannister, also several nephews and nieces and his church family. He was predeceased by his parents and niece Amy Dunlap and great nephew Tyler Hebert. A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 9 at 1:30 with a service to follow at 2 p.m. at Lisbon Faith Bible Church, 29 Village St., Lisbon.
