Richard C.A. Bauer, 88 of Granite City passed away on Monday, March 24, 2014 at his home with his family by his side. Richard was born on February 15, 1926 in Granite City, a son to the late William and Louisa (Buenger) Bauer. Richard was a life long Madison County farmer and a member of St. John United Church of Christ. He was a member of TCAAH (Tri City Area Association for Handicap), the Granite City Eagles Lodge, past President of the Madison County Farmer Bureau and past President of the Granite City area bowling leagues. He will be remembered for his love of the land and the outdoors and the many special times shared together with his family and friends. He is survived by and will be missed by his wife; Rose M. (Walker) Bauer, whom he married on April 16, 1946; son, Richard P. Bauer of Granite City; granddaughter, Jessica and (Chris) Bauer of Granite City; great-grandchildren, Taylor Milam, MaKayla Bauer, Jessalyn Bauer. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter; Linda M. Bauer and his sister, Marie A. Frizzell. Friends may call on Friday, March 28, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. In celebration of his life services will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John United Church of Christ, 2901 Nameoki Road in Granite City with Pastor Karla Frost officiating. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery on Nameoki Road. Memorials are suggested to St. John United Church of Christ, Muscular Dystrophy Association, TCAAH, or Gateway Hospice.
