Richard A. Breault

HAVERHILL - Richard "Dick" A. Breault, 92, longtime Haverhill resident, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at his residence. He was the loving husband of the late Mary E. (Fiorentini) Breault with whom he shared sixty-one years of marriage. Born in Haverhill on September 25, 1925, he was the son of the late Evelyn (McLaughlin) and Andrew Breault. After graduation from Haverhill Trade School, Richard joined the Merchant Marines where he served as a machinist on army transport ships. Upon discharge, he was employed by Polaroid Corporation where he worked directly with founder Edwin Land to build prototypes for the early Polaroid cameras. He later worked at Yale University's Sloan Lab and subsequently became the founder and president of Northeastern Tool Company, NETCO Automation, and Marlin Industries. Richard was very active in his industry and community. He was elected president of the National Tool and Precision Machining Association for two terms and was also named Massachusetts Small Business Administration (SBA) Businessman of the Year in 1966. In addition, he served on the School Committee at Whittier Regional Vocational Technical High School and was a proud member of the Haverhill Exchange Club, The Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce, Haverhill Country Club, and Sacred Hearts Parish. Most importantly, Richard will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband and father. He loved taking his young children ice skating and in later years on frequent family outings to Bruins, Red Sox, and Celtics games. Richard treasured family vacations to Florida and his beloved Nova Scotia, where he had family roots. He also enjoyed golfing, boating, and entertaining extended family and friends at the family's Rye Beach home. He is survived by his five children, Cathy Carpenter of Reseda, CA, Fran Boland and husband Bill of Bradford, Maria DeLuco and husband Steve of San Francisco, CA, Liz Hollis and fiancé Jack Phelan of Hampton, NH, and Rich Breault and wife Sue of Haverhill. Richard will also be missed by his grandchildren Tracy Porter, Maria Cantwell, Rachel and John Boland, Jack and Tomas DeLuco, Sarah Ridzon, Matt and Mike Hollis; his great-grandchildren Nylah, Roman, Eloise, and Luke; also by Bob Carpenter. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, January 22, in Sacred Hearts Church, 165 So. Main Street, Bradford, at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Salem Street, Bradford. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Richard's memory may be made to Sacred Hearts Parish Food Pantry, 48 S.
