Richard Lee Bright, a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished friend, passed away on January 7, 2024, after a long illness. Richard was born on July 20, 1945, in Jackson, Ohio to the late Kenneth and Ola Bright.

Richard led a remarkable life filled with love and meaningful connections with his family and friends. He dedicated many years of service to the City of Killeen, where he worked as a Supervisor until his retirement. Richard's commitment and dedication earned him the respect of his colleagues and made a lasting impact on the community.

During his younger years, Richard served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1969. His time in the military shaped him into a strong and resilient individual. Richard was a proud veteran who admirably served his country.

In his free time, Richard enjoyed various hobbies that brought him immense pleasure. From playing horseshoes to indulging in the art of BBQing delicious meals for his loved ones, Richard found solace in simple pleasures. He had a competitive spirit when playing darts or pool and was always up for a friendly challenge.

Richard's proudest accomplishment was undoubtedly his children: Barbara Bright of Temple, Tammy Sagodi of Brownwood, and Lorie Madden and husband Ronnie of Belton. He instilled strong values of love, kindness, and determination within them. Richard viewed his children's happiness and success as his own, and their love for him is immeasurable.

Richard's memory will forever be cherished by his beloved wife, Susan Calhoun Bright of Brownwood, who stood by his side through thick and thin. Their unwavering bond was a true testament to the power of love and commitment. Alongside Susan, Richard is survived by his two sisters, Boots McKensie and Rosie Ralph, both residing in Columbus, Ohio.

Richard's existence was further enriched by the presence of his seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He reveled in watching them grow and celebrate life's milestones. Richard's love for his family was endless, and he leaves behind a remarkable legacy that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.

A visitation service to honor Richard's life will be held on January 12, 2024, at Crotty Funeral Home & Cremation Services on 5431 U.S. Hwy 190 in Belton, Texas. The visitation will take place between 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM, providing an opportunity for friends and loved ones to pay their respects.

Richard Lee Bright touched the lives of countless individuals with his warm heart and genuine compassion. His memory will forever live on within the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in eternal peace knowing he made a profound impact on all who crossed his path.
