Richard Edward Brock, born October 13, 1944, in Goose Creek, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2025, at 1 p.m. in LaPorte, Texas. He was the beloved son of Audrey Amelia Harmon and Raymond Melton Brock and a faithful follower of Christ, leaving a legacy of Christian values to his family and friends.
Richard spent his early years in Baytown, Texas, where he attended Robert E. Lee High School. A gifted athlete, he excelled in both football and baseball and had the honor of playing in the Little League World Series. His dedication to education and ambition led him to graduate from the prestigious Wharton School of Business while simultaneously working with AT&T.
Over the course of his life, Richard resided in several cities across Texas and Missouri, including Deer Park, Arlington, Duncanville, Austin, Highlands, and St. Louis. He built a distinguished career as an executive with AT&T before channeling his entrepreneurial spirit into custom homebuilding and small business ownership.
Richard was a man of diverse interests and talents. A passionate car enthusiast, he took great pride in restoring classic vehicles such as a 1955 Oldsmobile and 1950s Ford tractors, as well as All-State scooters. He also enjoyed flying large model airplanes and found joy in outdoor pursuits like hunting and fishing. Traveling in his motor home brought him great pleasure, as did playing dominoes with friends and family. A devoted Houston Astros fan, Richard also cherished the simple joys of watching squirrels and birds frolic in his backyard.
He is survived by his daughter Shana Renee Brock (from his marriage to Susie King Brock, former spouse); his brother Melton R Brock, Melton's spouse Len Shelton; and his fiancée Pat Williams. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Raymond W Brock.
Richard's legacy is one of hard work, creativity, and a zest for life that inspired all who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to those who mourn his passing.
A celebration of Richard's life will be held on March 22, 2025, from 11:30 – 1:30pm at Monument Inn in La Porte, Texas.
