Richard “Pete” W. Burgess, one of the greatest story tellers of all time crossed over to take his place on the bench, Tuesday February 28, 2023. The family will celebrate his life with a gathering at a later date.
Pete was a man who lived his life his way. Every day was an adventure. He had a special kind of love for life. Must not forget he is the number one Cowboy Fan, and he always said, "It's all good" and "If you can't spend a dollar twice, you're doing it wrong"! Thanks to all his family and friends who made it possible to spend his last days at his home on Bunger Hill. Special thanks to his nurses and nephews, Joshua Brake, Brandon Campbell, and John Rogers who helped make that possible the last few days.
Survivors include; wife, Stella Louise Burgess of 37 years; step-children, Brian Cherryhomes, Milissa Smith and husband Aaron, Sherry Mendel, Susan Shehadeh and husband Gus, along with nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren; sisters, Linda Anderson of Graham, Nancy Campbell of San Angelo, and Vicki Hanna and husband Alan of Graham; numerous nieces and nephews, Stephanie Chrane and husband Bobbie, Lori Figley, Kimberly Venicinque and husband Michael, Brandon Campbell and Crystal, Joshua Brake and wife Alison, and namesake Pete Douglas, Amanda Brake, Josh Hanna and Katie, Michael Hanna, Charlee Rogers and Frank, John Rogers and Nikki; many great nieces and nephews and a great great niece.
