Richard J. "Dick" Burnett, 84, Greenville, PA, passed away of natural causes on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at UPMC Horizon Hospital in Greenville, PA, following a brief illness.

Dick was born in Greenville, PA, on October 17, 1940, to the late Harry and Florence (Jones) Burnett.

He was married to his one true love, Nancy A. (Meacham) Burnett. She preceded him her in death on August 14, 1995.

He graduated from Penn High in Greenville, PA in 1958. He was a proud Navy Veteran who served during the Cuban Missile Crisis from 1959 to 1963. From a young age, Dick's talents became notable. He excelled as a wrestler and turned down a wrestling scholarship to help provide for his family. His work ethic shined in other ways, especially through his career with the Bessemer Railroad. He started as an engine electrician and worked his way up through the company. He was able to retire younger than most, as the Diesel Shop Supervisor and was proud of the reputation he built for himself in this community.

Through life's trials and tribulations, Dick remained humble, resilient and kind. He was a man of faith and a true fighter, who never gave up. He had a passion for outdoors and enjoyed hunting trips with his brother, Ray. He was a well-known little league coach for Greenville and loved coaching his sons and others throughout the years. He enjoyed mowing his grass, reading the daily record argus, and listening to country music. Most of all, he cherished time spent with his son and granddaughter, hosting them for holiday meals and going to the local Chinese restaurant to celebrate birthdays.

Dick is survived by the two loves of his life; Son, Kenneth Burnett and Granddaughter, Jessica Burnett, both of Greenville; His brother, Wayne (Betty) Burnett of Atlantic; Grandson, Tj McGary of Kalispell, MT; Bonus Granddaughter, Mackinsey (Chuck) Corder of Greenville; Sister-In-Law, Nora Cole of Hermitage; Niece, Jaime (Mike) Keller of West Middlesex; Nephew; Ben Steingrabe of Pittsburgh; Nephew, Randall (Missy) Burnett; Nephew; Mark Burnett; Two Nieces, DeAnn (Brenda) Roberts, Gina (Frank) Burnett; Also surviving is Tammy McGary, who he always considered a daughter to him, and many great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, He was preceded in death by a beloved son and brother, Keith and Ray Burnett.
