Richard L. “Bergen” Campbell, age 87, of Coalton, passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at Edgewood Manor in Wellston. He was born May 10, 1938, in Jackson to the late Albert and Margaret (Dillon) Campbell.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Joan (Price) Campbell, of Coalton.
Richard served in the United States Army. He was a steel mill operator at Worthington Steel, and also was a self-employed contractor and carpenter, where he enjoyed building many homes in Wellston and Jackson.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Tom (Judy) Campbell, Paul (Anna Mae) Campbell, Bob (Liz) Campbell, Lenvil Campbell and Curtis Campbell. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Trennie (Zeke) Davis and Audrey Opal.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 11-1 at the Lewis & Gillum Funeral Home of Jackson. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM with Justin McGowan officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memory Gardens with military honors conducted by the Jackson DAV and United States Army. Online condolences may be sent to www.lewisgillum.com.
