Richard (Rick) Vaughn Chivers, 66, passed away on February 15, 2026, in Farmington, New Mexico. He was born on December 16, 1959, in Redding, California, to Ferris Chivers and Claudette Moss.
Rick was a man who truly loved life on the open road. Driving semi-trucks was not just a job — it was his passion. Rig-up trucks were his favorite, and the bigger and heavier the load, the bigger his smile. He took great pride in his work and built lasting friendships throughout his years behind the wheel.
He is survived by his son, Kyle Chivers (Jade), and his four cherished granddaughters, Pyper, Ari, Kyra and Naima, who brought immense joy to his life. He is also survived by his sister, Charlotte Auckland (Roger); his brother, Lawrence Chapman; his Aunt Bonnie and Cousin Cena Chivers and his lifelong friends, Ricki Shorter and Shawna Ramsey.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Claudette Moss and Ferris Chivers; his stepmother, Leigh Chivers; and his brother, James Chivers.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Gallegos, Hampton and Hazlewood families for their love, support, and kindness throughout this journey.
Rick will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love of trucking, his big smile, and the deep love he had for his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
