It's an honor to be an acquiantance of Richard he was an accomplished respected community leader of our generation. RIP

I recall with gratitude the work Richard and I did on consolidation of government services between Kentwood and Grand Rapids during the time we were Mayors. He was a strong collaborator, but more, Richard became a good friend. I am saddened by his passing and I hold you in my heart. I will be out of state on Thursday, but my spirit will be with you as you you celebrate his life and his eternal life.

Richard was quite a trail blazer, role model to be emulated and touched many of the community's hearts and spirits he was a joy to work with in the struggle in Kent County.
