Mr. Clements, Esq. was my first mentor. He was an exceptionally good, decent and ethical man. A great family man. As an attorney, he was formidable. I recall joining his family for a Christmas party at his house, it reminded me of a Rockwell painting. He taught me more than the practice of law, he taught me to always endeavor to do the right thing. We kept in touch for several decades. My condolences, Karen and family.

Dick was a valued and respected legal colleague, always ready to lend a hand. More importantly, he was a devoted and precious brother in Christ. We met through the Christian Legal Society, and maintained contact through the years. Today I prepared to refer a case to him, and checked the State Bar website to verify his current contact information, and discovered that Dick had passed months ago. It saddened me to learn that his wit and wisdom would no longer be with us, but I know that the separation is only temporary and look forward to meeting up with him at his new address in due course.

Mr. Clements was a friend and a colleague in bankruptcy law. He hired me to do contract work, but even after I went to a firm, we kept in touch. It was always a pleasure to speak to him. He had a great sense of humor and was so kind. I was always encouraged by his faith. Im so sad to discover this late news, but grateful to have known him.

He helped me solve a problem, and his solution was perfect. I was looking to hire him again and he just passed. He was a great man who didn't want to rip me off. May he rest in peace, he will be forever missed.

Mr. Clements was a really nice person and we're very sad for this late news. My wife was preparing this year's Christmas card and found out he had passed. Mr. Clements has guided us through some hard times a few years back with his wit, experience and calm demeanor. It was always a pleasure to visit him, chat a bit and seek his advice regarding our predicament. Eventually, it worked out for us and are very grateful for Mr. Clement's assistance. Definitely will miss him.

Karen, I remember the Sundays at Bethel Lutheran Church in Long Beach, looking up at Dick and thinking "he sure is tall". Those days would have been around the early sixties, before I left for CLBS and began working in Los Angeles. You might remember the names John and Gladys Hendrikson and Helen and Palmer Oien from those day. I am Eileen niece of Gladys and now married to an Oien. Our prayers are with you and your family.

Richard was an outstanding and respected Long Beach Bar Association leader for decades, highly respected and a greata example of an ethical and professional attorney. He will be remembered.

It was with great sadness that Dee and I learned of Dicks death. My wife and I have been Hispanic church planting missionaries for over 40 years. We are deeply grateful for Dick and Karen who have prayed for us and have been strong supporters of our work from the very beginning. There are believers and churches all over northern Mexico and Costa Rica who owe their existence in part to Dick and Karens Kingdom vision. As Kens elder cousin Dick was a constant encourager of our ministry as well as our family. Dick will be greatly missed but we know his eternal future with our Lord is secure because of his faith and trust in Jesus.

Dick always let me know that he was my older cousin, he always made me laugh. What a wonderful man he was, a great father, wonderful husband and he was a true Christian that loved the Lord. He will be greatly missed.

Me: Good morning!
My Uncle Dick: Youre entitled to your opinion.
DUDE (Dynamic Uncle Dick Extraordinaire) will be greatly missed. He definitely lived up to his moniker. My heart is hurting. DUDE has always been part of my life, though it wasnt until I passed my more selfish teens that I came to appreciate him so much. You see, Justins dad passed in 1997. My own dad passed in 2006. So DUDE was much more than uncle to us. He was the only dad and grandpa we had left. He mentored Justin and he loved my girls as if they were his very own grandchildren.
Every Easter our phones would chirp to notify us of a text from DUDE. He is Risen! and we would reply, He is Risen Indeed. He was an early riser, so we never got the first text off - even with the time zone in our favor. I could say so much more, but suffice it to say, our hearts hurt.
I look forward to the day we will all be reunited. This is my hope - because He is Risen! 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14

My sister, Carol J. Burnett, was Mr. Clement's secretary for nearly 40 years. She held him in high regard, observing his commitment to Christian ideals.

Mr. Clements (RRC, The Boss)
How I met The Boss is a bit of a story. My first introduction to Reinjohn, Catlin & Clements law firm was when I enrolled in an Introduction to Legal Technology course at Pasadena City College, where Richard Reinjohn (RGR) was the professor. (Sharon Bangs was also in this class and she went on to become an attorney.) At break one night, RGR ask me to go with him to pick up his mail. He then told me that the senior partner in his firm, C.P. Von Herzen (C.P.), needed a legal secretary and suggested I set up an interview if I was interested. This was a downtown Los Angeles firm, so after considering the commute and parking, I was told that they would pay parking for me, so I went in for an interview and met C.P.. He was an interesting gentleman and hired me. This was in the early 1970s.
After approximately two years, C.P. became ill and passed away. I was thereafter working for various associates when Mr. Clements (RRC), while on vacation, called in and asked to talk to me, offering me a position as his secretary. Since his work was basically Bankruptcy and Insolvency, I replied that I was available but would have a lot to learn. I was taking night classes toward becoming a paralegal, so learning new subjects was a part of my life.
Now, some 40+ years later, I am still working for RRC. He has become an important prayer partner in my life. After my divorce of 25 years, two sons starting college, and moving into the Burnett family home and eventually purchasing same with my sister and her husband, The Boss was a prayer partner and a family friend. RRC always had a prayer list and I would frequently ask him to add my kids and grandkids to his list.
The Downtown Partnership eventually dissolved and Richard R. Clements, P.C. office moved to Long Beach. This was a big change and I have been driving from Pasadena to Long Beach for approximately 12 years, now reducing my work days. Mr. Clements hired Michelle who is proficient on computers and other equipment. She is a great co-worker and friend too.
I have the utmost respect for RRC and know him to be honorable, honest and hardworking. I have referred him to family and friends who were very appreciative for his services. He always strove to be a consummate professional and a Christian attorney.
I will forever miss him and remember the important things he taught me. If I would struggle with equipment or programs, he would often tell me try it one more time, or make me proud. Great counsel!
Oh yes! I probably owe him a nickel change from our last lunch splitting!!

You could never meet a nicer, kinder, more generous person. So glad I got to share experiences with him and his dear wife who is equally nice, kind and generous. So much love for these two people.
