Richard Clifford
Mar 8, 1937 - Dec 18, 2025
Richard Finley Clifford, 88, passed away peacefully at his home in Bryan, Texas, surrounded by family on Thursday, December 18, 2025. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and a steady presence to those who knew and loved him.
A devout Catholic, Richard practiced his faith quietly and authentically, guided by prayer, service, and love for others. His beliefs shaped the way he lived his life and cared for his family.
Richard shared sixty-four years of marriage with his beloved wife, Darlene. Together they built a life grounded in love, commitment, and family.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene; two sons, Greg Clifford of Howe, Indiana, and Jeff Clifford of College Station, Texas (wife Kris); two grandsons, Sean Clifford of College Station (wife Stephanie and daughter Vivienne: Richard & Darlene's, great-granddaughter) and Matt Clifford of San Antonio, Texas (wife Kellie); and his sister Laura, of Rushville, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin and Helen Clifford; his brothers, Franklin, John, and Joe; and his sisters, Joan, Mary, and Norma Jane.
Richard worked for International Furniture for thirty-two years, including the last twelve as the General Manager in Bryan. In 1986, Richard and Darlene moved to Pomona, California and bought and ran a UPS store. Darlene told Richard when Kris was pregnant with their second grandchild, "Sell the store, we are moving back to Bryan to be with our grandkids." Returning to Bryan gave them the opportunity to see both grandsons grow up, participate in High School sports, graduate from Texas A&M University, marry, and in July, welcome a great-grandchild, Vivienne Adelaide Clifford.
Richard was an avid sports fan. He loved to watch and follow his favorite teams that included, Notre Dame, Texas A&M, as well as being a life-long die-hard Cincinnati Reds fan.
Richard will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering faith, loyalty to his family, and the lasting example he set for those who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
