We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Richard Lee Coates, age 65, of Brunswick Ohio. He lost his hard-fought battle with cancer in the evening hours of August 27th, 2022. He is survived by his wife of 47 yrs, his beloved Karen. His children: Michelle with grandson Jacob. Joshua & wife Cindy with his grands Jacob, Taylor, Caleb, Kegan, Hannah, Keith. Jennifer with grands Alyssa & Kevin. His parents Richard & Suzanne. His siblings Deborah, Sandra, Kevin, & Timothy.
Family was very important to him. We wish we could name everyone, because there are many family members including in laws, who he loved as much as his natural family. Family including nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles many who had a place in his heart. He was a Vietnam wartime Navy veteran. We thank him for his service. He held an occupation as a sider for much of his life. He was an extremely talented painter. He enjoyed movies, music, & football. We ask when you hear his chosen song of Green Day's "Time of your life", you think of him.
In the end, all he wanted was to come home and be with his wife. We are still going to make that happen. There will be no service at this time. When we are ready to give him the veteran's funeral honors and for him to be placed in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery's columbarium wall, we will give an update.
