Richard Rogers Cobb, Sr., 81, of Cary, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at Hock Family Pavilion surrounded by his loved ones on Monday, November 10, 2025.
Born in Greensboro, NC, Richard grew up in Burlington, NC and was the son of the late Paul E. Cobb, Sr. and Elizabeth Rogers Cobb. He graduated from East Carolina University, proudly served his country in the Army Reserves, and had a long and successful career in the textile industry. Richard's strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit led him and his devoted wife, Becky, to own and operate a business in Cary, NC, and he later became a licensed real estate broker.
Richard shared 55 wonderful years with Becky, building a family and a lifetime of cherished memories together. He is lovingly remembered by his son, Richard R. Cobb, Jr.; his daughter, Lauren Cobb Littmann (Chris); and his beloved grandson, Ryan Christopher Littmann, who brought him endless joy. He is also survived by his brother, Paul Edgar Cobb, Jr. (Gail); his sisters-in-law, Barbara Barnes (Len) and Beverly Martin; and extended family members including many nieces and nephews near and far.
Richard loved the beach and found peace in the smell of salt air, blue water, and the sound of waves. Aruba held a special place in his heart as his favorite Caribbean island and a place where he enjoyed countless happy memories. He loved being on the water - whether boating, snorkeling, fishing, or simply taking in the view - and his adventurous spirit shone through in his love of water sports and travel.
At home, Richard could often be found tending his vegetable garden - especially his prized tomatoes - or working in his shop, building and creating with care and craftsmanship. A lifelong reader and learner, Richard had an appreciation for knowledge, conversation, and curiosity that enriched the lives of everyone who knew him.
The family wishes to thank Duke University Hospital, Levine Cancer Institute Supportive Oncology, Duke Hospice, and Hock Family Pavilion for their kind and loving support.
Honoring his wishes, private services will be held at a later date. In his honor, donations may be made to Duke Hospice Hock Family Pavilion, 12 Moore Drive, Durham, NC 27703 or the online giving site as follows: https://www.givetodukeathome.org/
