Richard Cole (44), lovingly referred to as Rich or Richy, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2026, after battling esophageal cancer. He leaves behind four children, of whom he was extremely proud and loved more than he could ever express: Wren, Nathaniel, Ethan, and Elisabeth. Though his passing brings great grief to those who loved him, there is solace in knowing he is now reunited with his beloved daughter, Madeline, and his sister Michelle, who passed before him.
Rich is survived by his parents, Richard and Ginette Cole of Belchertown; his three cherished sisters: Heather (& Al Leger), Sharon (& Khemara Kang), and Stephanie Cole (& Derek Beynor); his nieces and nephews, and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins. He also leaves behind Carey, who was selfless throughout his care and provided so much love and comfort to Richy and our family.
Richy leaves behind memories as vibrant and mischievous as he was. Known for his quirky sense of humor, love of jokes, and fascination with fireworks, he often left people amused.
Rich was a lover of the outdoors and all things related to Massachusetts. He enjoyed fishing, playing golf, attending concerts, watching fireworks, and taking night hikes to look at the stars. He was a proud alumnus of UMass Amherst, a passionate fan of Boston sports, and an incredible chef who loved cooking for others. A collector and thrifter at heart, Rich always found joy in acquiring unique treasures to give to someone he cared about. His thoughtfulness, care for those he loved, and playful spirit will forever be his legacy.
Memorial arrangements will be shared once finalized
