Richard Corey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Moles Farewell Tributes & Crematory – Greenacres on Jan. 16, 2026.
Richard "Rick" Corey was born on March 24, 1951, and passed away on January 8, 2026.

Born in Buffalo, New York, Rick grew up in Maryland just outside of Washington, D.C. In his twenties, Rick relocated to the West Coast, where he spent the rest of his life in California, Nevada and finally Washington.

A homebody at heart, Rick found joy in the small things and didn't need grand adventures to appreciate the world around him. Whether it was settling in to watch a game, reading a favorite thriller, or listening to classic rock, Rick knew how to be fully content right where he was. Rick loved all sports, but particularly basketball, football, baseball and tennis. He was a devoted fan of the LA Lakers, San Francisco 49ers, San Francisco Giants, and New York Yankees. He was also an avid reader and the most caffeinated person you've ever met. Perhaps one of his most endearing traits was his fascination with the weather. He rarely missed a local forecast and would gladly stop whatever he was doing to catch the latest update.

Those who knew Rick well knew he could be stubborn, but that was matched by a remarkable kindness and generosity. He consistently put the needs of others ahead of his own, even in his final days, and always focused on what he believed was best for the people he loved.

As a father and partner, Rick was deeply devoted. Whether it be driving across northwest Washington to take his sons to their basketball games or going from quilt shop to quilt shop so his partner, Sherri, could find exactly the materials she needed. Showing up for family and the people who mattered most was simply who Rick was.

Rick is survived by his partner of more than 20 years, Sherri Terry, his two sons and their spouses (Shain and Emily and Nick and Devin), Sherri's four children (Laura, Dion, Amber and Megan), and twelve grandchildren. He is deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.

A memorial service to celebrate Rick's life will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 1:00 at Moles Farewell Tributes, 5700 Northwest Dr., Ferndale, WA 98248.
