Richard Wallace Devon

The first time I met Richard, I had been told by a mutual friend, Doug Stein, that I would be working with his friend and he was a really neat guy. I didn't know what to expect, but through doing many teaching assignments together, learned that what Doug had said was true. Richard was always the adventuresome one who would plan trips to the Indy 500 trials if we arrived in Indianapolis a day early for a teaching job. I have so many fond memories of his little side trips. And I miss him dearly.

This photo was my first attempt at taking a selfie, and as you can see, I needed more practice. But I'm happy to have the memory. This was at the Concordville Inn where Richard and I taught Astra Zeneca many many times. This trip, however, we both had separate clients but in the same area. With football season approaching, I know Richard's looking down on us and thinking the Bulldogs are going to do it again this year. Sorry Good Buddy, it's Bama this year!

I had the honor to meet Richard through Smith System and know him well the past 14 years. Although I'm part of the Business Development team, we would periodically cross paths either for training assignments or company functions. He recently traveled to Arlington, TX for a couple of weeks to train for us, and I was so fortunate to catch up with him and in true 'Richard-style' get a few laughs and smiles during our visit. I will miss him, his cheerfulness, and his willingness to step up and help out however he could. He's touched so many lives personally and professionally. Deepest condolences to all of you.

Ahhh Ricardo, we are going to miss you so much. We know you are already in heaven surrounded by all the dogs that loved you, including Lucy, Molly, Zoey, Sadie, and Bob.

I too, met Richard as a Smith System instructor as he drove us to Astra Zeneca classes in Delaware. We shared many laughs and great conversations multiple times via text and phone. I called him in Arlington for clarification on an upcoming class there that he previously taught 2 weeks in a row. I am greatly honored to have known him for 15-16 years. Richard ((Rick) and I were greatest of friends for over forty years, and worked together for much of that time. We shared wonderful times, and I always will remember him with deep affection. His sense of humor was matched only by his love of life. My wife, Norma Jo, and I extend our deepest sympathy to the Devon family.

Worked with Rick for 14.5 years at HCFA/CMS. He also lived near me in East Cobb so we saw each other now and then. He will be missed. Prayers for Jerri.

Richard was not just a fellow member of the Ga Air National Guard but a friend to all of us. He was dedicated to his country and the State of Ga. He will me missed. God Bless Him. Our prayers go out to the family.

Expressions of sympathy are so inadequate! No words could ever convey how sorry we feel. We can only say what a charming, lovely, helpful guy Rick was and how much we enjoyed being with him the rare times we were able to. Met Richard through my husband Jim Curl. What a guy. Loved his patriotism and devotion to the military. Will miss you my dear friend.

I don't recall meeting Richard, but we have 2 connections. Yes, with Smith which I have been with for 8 years. But also service to our nation from me as a retiree of the US Department of Transporation plus military service, to his service with US DHHS and apparent military service.
Richard, I salute you for all you have given to US, the federal government, your community, and to your family.

Richard and I worked together many times over these 14 years. We also called each other throughout the years and stayed in close contact and as veterans discussed which branch of service was the best(Richard Air-Force ; me-Army). He was fun to talk to . RIP Richard, I already miss you.

Richard and I became close friends when we met at our training to become Smith System instructors. We have remained close friends ever since. We often got together outside of work, and we talked almost daily. He was an unforgettable person who I will remember for the rest of my life. RIP my friend

Richard´s coworkers and the many, many students he worked with over the past 14+ years appreciated his humor and overall good nature.
