Richard 'Dick' Buan

Richard E. 'Dick' Buan, age 84 of Litchfield, passed away June 8, 2025, at Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield. A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at 2:00 PM at First Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Richard Edward Buan, the son of Ellsworth and Mary (Odegaard) Buan was born on February 26, 1941 in Minneapolis, MN. He graduated from Kenyon High School in 1959. Dick was married to DiAnn Mogren in 1960 and they were blessed with three children Charity, Rick and Becky. Growing up on a farm, he learned to appreciate agriculture; and as an extension of farming he became the manager of Stark's Corner Creamery where he made and sold butter. While working at the creamery he purchased a herd of Jersey cattle and a John Deere Model A tractor and started farming. Dick later moved on to manage other creameries and then became the boiler operator for First District in Litchfield. After his marriage to DiAnn, Dick met Ardie Feyereisn. They were united in marriage on January 2, 1982, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Faribault, MN. Ardie and Dick were blessed with 40 years together and lived the last 30 years in Litchfield. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Dick enjoyed gardening and canning, selling produce at the farmers market, old time country music and collecting and repairing toy model tractors. He was mischievous, had a great sense of humor and loved to visit.

Dick is survived by his children Charity (Dave) Linz of Green Bay, WI, Rick (Chrysauna) Buan of Chanhassen, MN, and Becky (Craig) Olson of Chanhassen, MN; stepchildren Randy (Lynn) Feyereisn of Faribault, MN, Sue (Gerry) Hunt of Faribault, MN, and Jim Feyereisn of Northfield, MN; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Ardith Buan; parents Ellsworth and Mary; brothers Mark, Robert and Doug; stepson Daniel Feyereisn.
