Dick was born January 31, 1935, in Dinsdale, Iowa, the son of Clark and Gertrude Fleming. Dick graduated from Dinsdale High School in 1953, then went onto Upper Iowa University, earning a degree in business. He was involved in baseball, basketball, track and golf at Upper Iowa.

Dick joined the Army in August of 1957, and served until honorably discharged in July of 1963. He worked for the federal government for 30 years and Rockwell Collins for 3 years. He also spent many years maintaining the grounds at Central City golf course and Squaw Creek golf course.

Dick married the love of his life Darlene Greiner on April 26, 1958, in New Jersey. They were married for 61 years until Darlene passed in January of 2020. Their love was strong and pure. They enjoyed traveling together, playing tennis, wintering in Arizona and spending time with family at their cabin in Guttenberg.

Dick had many hobbies but those who knew him, knew that his biggest passion was golf. He golfed for many years and spent a lot of time at the golf course in Central City, where he made many friends. He assistant coached the girls’ golf team at Central City, and continued to coach both of his granddaughters through their college golf careers. Dick also loved to fish, hunt and watch his son and granddaughters play sports. He will be greatly missed by many.

Dick is survived and remembered by his son, Allen Fleming of Central City, granddaughters, Kailey (Bowen) Wileman of Milton, Wisconsin and Madison (Luke) Smith of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
