Richard Doucette Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Morris-Johnston Funeral Home Inc. on Mar. 31, 2026.
Richard "Dick" Doucette, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on March 28, 2026, at the age of 71.

Born on May 18, 1954, Dick spent his childhood and early adult years in Marlborough, Massachusetts. He was the son of the late Arthur Doucette and Gertrude Robbins. He was predeceased by his sisters, Janet Licht and Margaret Kelley, and is survived by his siblings, Trish Holt of Northborough, MA, and Larry Doucette of Hudson, MA. He also leaves behind many cousins whom he held close to his heart.

Dick's greatest joy began in 1972 when he met the love of his life, Nancy Reilly. From that moment on, they were inseparable. They married in 1975 and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, a milestone reflecting a lifetime of love, partnership, and shared joy. Dick and Nancy did everything together, always side by side. Theirs was a love story for the ages, one built not just on words, but on a lifetime of showing up for one another, staying close, and finding joy in everyday moments.

Together, they built their life in the tight-knit community of Southborough, Massachusetts. They loved to travel, but no matter where they went, their hearts were always centered on family and friends. Their home was especially full of love during the years they shared it with Nancy's mother, Maryalice Reilly, who lived with them until her passing in 2024. Dick cared deeply for her and shared a special bond with her, a reflection of his generous and loving nature. Holidays were full, summers were lively, and every gathering was touched by their warmth. They didn't just share a life, they created one filled with love, laughter, and lasting memories.

Dick was a proud and loving father to Michelle Doucette of Hudson (Ryan McGorty), Kristen Taylor of Millbury (Michael Prosansky), and Richard Doucette Jr. of Williamstown, MA (Zoë Remillard Doucette). As "Papa" to Bobby, Aedan, Kamryn, Isabella, Avrey, Addison, Zinedine, Vinn, Augustus, and Jameson, he was nothing short of extraordinary, devoted, kind, and endlessly present. He cherished every moment with them, especially their blueberry walks together and afternoons spent playing frisbee, filling their lives with warmth, wisdom, and laughter. He was also deeply loved by his many nieces and nephews, who will miss his easy smile and steady presence.

When he wasn't at "The Club", Dick could often be found at Camp Take It Easy with friends, playing cribbage and horseshoes, searching for treasures at yard sales and antique shops, or enjoying the peace and solitude of fishing, one of his favorite pastimes. You could also often find him digging through the "take it or leave it" area at the Southborough Transfer Station, always on the lookout for a good find.

Dick lived a life defined by quiet strength, deep compassion, and unwavering loyalty to those he loved. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Visiting hours will be held for Dick on Tuesday April 7th, 2026, from 4:00-7:00 pm at the Morris-Johnston Funeral Home, 40 Main Street, Southborough, MA 01772. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 8th, 2026, at 11:00 am at St Anne Church, 20 Boston Road, Southborough, MA. Burial will follow at Southborough Rural Cemetery, 11 Cordaville Road, Southborough, MA.
