My Rev
I want to tell you about my Rev. I´m telling you this from my high school self. There are things that stand out: his love of photography. I can see him standing on the sidelines or on the court, camera around his neck snapping pictures to help us document our wins and losses. I learned how to say the seven words you can´t say on tv from listening to his vinyl album George Carlin "Class Clown" (probably many, many times). That is a good segue to The Rev. I can´t imagine what he would see and think on Sunday mornings when Andrea, myself, and our band of friends would show up in the very back row of the balcony having just returned from the local convenience store with our stash of Funyuns and other assorted snacks to settle in for the 11:00 church service!! My present self believes that he was showing us the grace of God by not calling us out. He may have been thinking those 7 words!!
The Rev didn´t text and drive but he apparently wrote while he drove. I remember being picked up in his car and in the middle of the front seat was a stand that held a note pad. I guess you never know when divine inspiration may strike. We should have probably written a thank you note for tolerating our balcony antics!!
Lift high your cross Rev. You were a good and faithful servant. Rest well. Here we go.
