Richard Harris Duggan, age 89, of Lodi, went home with the Lord on Monday, April 24, 2023, at 7:30 PM, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on July 28, 1933, in Glenwood, the son of John Duggan and Iva Echols Duggan. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Alfred Duggan, Chester Duggan, and David Duggan; five sisters, Alta Hamill, Alma Mathews, Bobbie Cogburn, Lottie Love and Bonnie Pounds; and one son-in-law, Terry W. Lambert.
On January 24, 1976, Richard married the true love of his life, Brenda Cogburn. He was a 1950 graduate of Langley High School. Richard was a United States Army veteran having served from 1953 until 1965, a then in the Army Reserves from 1974 until 1993. In 1964, he became a member of the Masonic Lodge in Junction City, Kansas, and the Buffalo Gap Lodge 484 in 1981. Richard was a truck driver for the majority of his work-life.
In his younger years, Richard enjoyed skating, along with singing and playing the guitar. He loved the outdoors, camping and hunting. Above all, Richard’s favorite past-time was spending time with his family and friends. Every chance he could, he would crank up gospel singing for everyone to enjoy. Richard was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who dearly loved his family, and will be deeply missed by all.
He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Duggan; his children, Jett Duggan, Linda Henderson, Jawana Lambert, Rinda Pinkerton (Kenny), Rex Duggan (Lauren) and Joey Duggan (Greg); twenty-four grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a special life-long friend, John Mitchell; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of wonderful friends.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, April 28, 2023, in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel-Glenwood with Bro. Kyle Cowart, Bro. Ron Parker and Bro. Joe Cogburn officiating.
Visitation will be held Thursday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel-Glenwood, 209 North Third Street, Glenwood, Arkansas 71943.
Interment with military honors provided by the United States Army Honors Team will be in the Lodi Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Linsey Rogers, Luke Lambert, Dylan Turner, Allen Duggan, Tyler Vick, Ethan Edens, Rodney Cogburn and Braxton Duggan.
